Annual General Meeting

You are invited to our Annual General Meeting
    Tuesday August 11th, 2015
    7:00 - 8:00 p.m.
    751 West Ship Harbour Rd. Lower Ship Harbour

Come at 6:00 p.m. for pre-meeting pizza and tours of the property. We will be screening two short videos illustrating some of our programs.
All are welcome to attend but only members may vote. Memberships ($20) can be purchased on the 11th at the door.

The most powerful way you can support The Deanery Project is to sign up for our monthly membership program. A monthly pledge helps us to manage our budget so that we can fulfill our mandate more effectively. Nova Scotia Sea School Makes Waves at the Deanery Project

The summer season is a busy time at the Deanery Project and one of our highlights has been hosting a group of amazing youth from the Nova Scotia Sea School. This year we had the pleasure of spending a week with eight energetic and enthusiastic girls from Alfred Lake Camp in Maine who are completing a 6-week adventure trip with the Nova Scotia Sea School.

UPCOMING EVENTS

SeaLight SkyLight Festival

Celebrate the wonders of the Perseid meteor shower and summer ocean phosphorescence with us in Ship Harbour.

SeaLight SkyLight is our annual festival of astronomy and phosphoresence. There are two evenings of light-themed activities, glowing entertainment, and a magical procession of lanterns to the shore.

August 13 & 14, 2015, 7:30-11:30

  • Adults $10
  • Youth $5
  • Under 12 FREE

Please bring a flashlight, a blanket or lawn chair for outdoor viewing, and bug protection. Binoculars & telescopes encouraged also!

Super Cyclers Day Camps

This August 17-18 and 20-21 the Deanery Project will be running two day camps for kids ages 6-10. The camps will focus on adventure and bicycle skills including: safety, straight line riding, turns, hand signals, changing gears, and basic bike maintenance. There will be games and stories to teach the Super Cyclers about road and bicycle safety as well as good ol’ fashioned outdoor summer games. The family rate is $30 per child with other sliding scale options available on request.  Read More

Breaking News!

We have new driveway access into the Deanery Project off West Ship Harbour Rd. This is a project we have been working towards since we first purchased the property.
Many thanks to the Russell family for their patience and support. Ralph Bayers and crew did a wonderful job crafting a graceful lane that looks like it was always there. Thanks also to Councillor David Hendsbee, Chris Weisenberger, and many others for their support of this huge next step in the evolution of the Deanery Project.

Our board, youth group, and many other Deanery Project friends continue to give generously of their time and skills to make so much possible. Many, many thanks to all!!

If you would like to volunteer on a project or event, please email or call 902-845-1888. There are tasks from mixing mud and working in the gardens to helping organize files, volunteers, and membership. We are especially looking for people to help with some fund raising events.

Stay in Touch

Open Houses - The first Sunday of every month from 1:00 - 3:00, we welcome visitors to see what we are up to. There are tours, hikes, and great conversation. August's open house featured iced coffee and roasted corn on the cob. Our next open house is September 6th.
